From  Our Students

Foundation

This month, our Foundation students had the fantastic opportunity to visit Kew Traffic School as part of their learning about road safety and the world around them. During their visit, students learned all about important road rules and how to stay safe on the roads. They discovered the meanings behind different road signs, such as stop signs, pedestrian crossings, and traffic lights, and explored how these signs help keep everyone safe on the roads.

They also learned what the different lines on the road mean —  the difference between solid and dashed lines, bike lanes, and pedestrian walkways. Our Students were given the chance to practise their skills by riding bikes and scooters around the mini road system.

We’re so proud of how well our Foundation students listened, participated, and showed our school values of excellence, resilience and respect throughout the day. A big thank you to the team at Kew Traffic School for providing such a valuable learning experience!

Juniors

In Inquiry our juniors have been learning about farms and what kinds of animals produce different food products. The have been investigating the process of milk, and how it is produced from cows. They have also learnt about how sugar is made, and peanut butter!

They have had the opportunity to create their own ideal farm, thinking about what animals or crops they might need, thinking about spaces fore trees, greenery and pathways. This have been a wonderful activity bringing the student's learning to life.

Middles

In Art class, middle school students are learning the skill of sewing by creating a unique  artwork. They begin by painting a background on Hessian fabric, a textured and rustic material that adds depth to their pieces. Then, they sew an image of Ned Kelly onto the Hessian, combining their new sewing skills with painting. Here are some pictures of the artwork they have created:

They have also been working on clay figures, where they designed and created a figure of their choice, let it dry and set, and are now in the process of painting them. It has been great to see all their idea come to life! Here are some clay figures before and after the paint:

Seniors

As part of their text-based literacy unit this term, our Senior students have been diving into the classic novel The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis. This much-loved story has sparked engaging discussions, thoughtful reflections, and deep analysis within our classrooms.

Students have been exploring key literary elements such as character development, themes, setting, and narrative structure. Through group reading, guided discussions, and independent activities, they are learning to think critically about the choices authors make and how those

choices affect the reader’s understanding and enjoyment of a text.
