Prep Update

Our Learning - Weeks 8 & 9

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL):

We will continue our learning around respectful relationships:

-To identify that some secrets should not be kept, including when someone is being hurt or being touched in a way that is not okay, or if someone is doing something wrong.

-To participate in games to build their sense of joy and connectedness to

others.

-To identify strengths they use to play and work well with others.

English:

-Revise Heart words and speed sounds with the use of our Chitter Chatter Chant cards.

-To recognise the /th/ sound, consisting of consonant digraph ‘th’ and identify words that have a /th/ sound in them (start/middle/end) and are spelt with the consonant digraph.

-To recognise the /ng/ sound, consisting of consonant digraph ‘ng’ and identify words that have a /ng/ sound in them. 

-Continue to explore non-fiction texts and their features and compare them to fiction texts.

-Write their own information report on an Australian animal of their choice (Platypus, Blue-tongue lizard, Rainbow Lorikeet).

-Write sentences related to picture prompts.

-Our oral language focus is: images to promote the use of language and discussion, alliteration, rhyming.

Maths:

-To practise forming digits correctly and review prior learning.

-To count back to solve subtraction number sentences.

-To compare two objects using direct comparison and talk about objects using length vocabulary.

-To accurately measure the length of different objects using informal measuring tools.

Inquiry:

-We are celebrating and thinking about the Moonlit Sanctuary excursion.

-We will be learning about marsupials.

-We will be learning about reptiles that are native to Australia.  

Friendly Reminders:

-Blue Reader bags- please send these to school with your child every day.

-Please send school summer hats with your child- Hillsmeade school hatsare required to be worn everyday at school during recess and lunch play (end of Term 3 and all of Term 4).

-Footy Day and last day of Term 3- Friday, 19th September.

-First day of Term 4- Monday, 6th October.

-Family-Teacher Conversations- open for booking now via Compass, for Oct 7 & 8 (Term 4, Week 1, Tuesday and Wednesday).
