Year 4 Update

Learning Outlook for Week 8 & 9
🧠 Maths
This week we have continued our division topic. We have been learning to use arrays to solve division equations with and without remainders as well as a new focus on short division. Students are learning to explain their thinking and show how these strategies can be applied in different situations.
The last week of Term 3 students will focus on location, using grid maps, coordinates, and directional language to give and follow instructions. They will also see how these skills connect to real-life examples like Google Maps and playgrounds.
📚 English
Students have been using their voice, expression and teamwork to bring scripts to life in Reader's Theatre. They have explored antonyms, identified morals in stories and began writing their own narrative plays in groups.
The last week of Term 3 students will practise predicting strategies in reading, rehearse and perform plays with clear voices and expression, revise spelling from the term, and explore similes and metaphors in texts.
💬 SEL
Week 8 R U OK? Day

In the last week of Term 3 students will learn about different forms of violence, discuss the emotions people may feel when affected, and share acts of friends that can support others.
🌏Humanities
Students identified and described natural and man-made features of familiar places and wrote about them for their information reports.
In the last week of Term 3 students will finish writing their information reports and present them to their classes.
All students are now required to wear their school hat during recess, lunch and outdoor activities. This will continue throughout Term 4. Please ensure your child brings their hat to school each day.
