RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS
At our student assembly on Monday morning, we prayed together as a school community to celebrate the World day of Prayer for Creation.
The season of Creation runs from the 1st of September until the 4th of October and is recognised and celebrated together by many faiths all around the world.
During the next few weeks, all classes in RE will continue to learn about how we can be a steward of creation by praying for, celebrating and caring for our planet and creation in many ways.
Prayer for the Season of Creation
God of all life,
We thank you for the gift of creation,
For the water that keeps us alive,
For our food and shelter,
All of which come from the generosity of Earth.
We thank you for the very air we breathe
Which we share with every creature.
May we take good care of Earth
As our common home takes care of us.
May we work for justice for those
Most hurt by damage to our environment.
May we enjoy the beauty of nature
And pray that it be treated with deeper respect.
Jesus asked us to learn from the lilies of the field
And the birds of the air.
We ask this in his name
Amen.
Wellbeing and Meal Support
We have a small team of families, who from time to time make a simple meal for others in our school community We then pass meals on anonymously to those in our community who are in need for a variety of reasons.
If you are able to assist with this on a one off basis or from time to time, please let me know or send me an email: kharris@shpreston.catholic.edu.au
Additionally, if you or any family you are aware of in our community that could use this support please let myself or Antoniette know.
FOOD BANK Victoria supplies and distributes food to many people and charities across Melbourne and Victoria.
There is a donation box in the office area to collect any non perishable staples . Last donations for this term will be on the Friday 12th of September. Thank you to everyone who has supported this cause. We will start a collection again in Term 4.
