Special Incursion

We had an incredibly tremendous special guest at school today in Henry the scientist who brought in his telescope to share with his classmates. The students were so impressed with the technology Henry uses to advance his understanding of the world around him. Thanks Henry for sharing your knowledge, passion and expertise.

Year 1

There has been so much learning happening in grade 1. In Maths, we have been learning about equal sharing/groups of. It was a little tricky at first but eventually we have mastered it! Then Marty taught us how all the planets orbit around the sun.

Year 2/3

Hi Families,

It is hard to believe it is week 7. We only have a few more weeks left till the end of term. In the final week (week 9) we will be swimming. This is a great experience for all children to improve their confidence around the water. In the past few weeks the children have been skipping for a great cause. The Heart Foundation's Jump Rope for Heart program. Here are some photos. Have a great weekend.

Year 3/4

Religion - Creation

In Religion, the students have started a unit on Creation. The first activity was for students to experience a variety of objects that come from our environment and how each item is connected to God.  We had 5 stations where students could use their senses - touch, taste, smell, sight and hearing. The first station was the 'sounds of the environment' such as birdsong, ocean waves, harp music and voices. The second station was touching items from outside such as leaves and flowers. The next station was smelling items such as lavender and perfume. The fourth station was looking at a Magic Eye pictures. The last station was taste, where the students tasted strawberries, sugar and salt. Students then had the opportunity to explain how they felt and what they were thinking as they moved around the different stations.

Inquiry Learning

It has been another busy yet enjoyable week in Year 5/6.

Students this week have begun locating and recording information about a topic they have chosen in our Earth and Space Science unit. This followed on to using this information, and presenting it in a way they would like to, such as a PowerPoint presentation or in a quiz. It has been great to see the students developing their researching and paraphrasing skills.

Here are some photos to show you some of the topics students have loved learning more about this term!!
