Stage 2 Child Studies students connect with community through kindy visits

Our Stage 2 Child Studies students recently had the opportunity to deepen their understanding of early childhood development through two enriching excursions to

The Hub Aberfoyle Kindy.

The first visit focused on play-based learning, with students designing and facilitating engaging activities that supported the children’s growth through imaginative and interactive play. The second visit explored healthy eating habits, where students led hands-on experiences to encourage children to discover a variety of fruits and vegetables in fun and creative ways.

These excursions provided meaningful, real-world opportunities for our students to apply their classroom learning in a supportive and joyful environment. The children at The Hub Aberfoyle Kindy were enthusiastic participants, and the collaboration between our students and the kindy community was truly inspiring.

Thank you to the staff, children and families at The Hub Aberfoyle Kindy for their warm welcome and for helping create such valuable learning experiences.

Year 10 – Active Citizenship Convention

On Wednesday 20 August, year 10 students had the privilege of attending the inaugural Active Citizenship Convention organised by the Department for Education. The theme of this convention was “Our Voice. Our Impact”.

Students took part in various learning experiences at Adelaide Oval, including hearing from dynamic keynote speakers, participating in youth-led group sessions, and engaging with interactive panels. They also had the opportunity to vote in an “election” and engage with influential community members, including athletes and politicians.

The aim of the convention was to inspire youth to be active and informed citizens, and to deepen their understanding of democracy.

Students’ contributions on the day were inspiring and thoughtful, leading to deep and thought-provoking discussions. We are proud of our student’s engagement in this convention and are looking forward to participating in the next convention in 2026!

Legal Studies students witness justice in action at Adelaide Law Courts

In weeks 6 and 7 of term 3, the year 10, 11, and 12 legal studies classes each attended the Adelaide Law Courts to see the legal system in action.

They observed a diverse range of criminal matters from traffic offences to murder, and saw many different legal processes including trials, bail applications, committal hearings, sentencing submissions, the issuing of arrest warrants, and the granting of a suppression order pending a murder trial.

The students were also given the opportunity to ask the Magistrate and Prosecutor questions and learned a lot about the practical application of some of the principles and processes they had studied in class.
