LIBRARY NEWS

Welcome to the final newsletter of Term 3! It's hard to believe how quickly it has gone. We started the term by enjoying our annual Book Fair, celebrated Book Week with amazing guest readers and competitions, and read through the fantastic Children's Book of the Year shortlisted titles. I've included some photos below that capture the fun we've had.
As we wrap up the term, classes are putting the finishing touches on their projects. We’re revisiting some of our favourite stories and getting stuck into fun activities from earlier in the term. We've also been reading a new book by the creators of 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'. The kids have loved 'Oh Dear, Look What I Got' and its catchy repeated line. Be sure to add it to your holiday reading list; I think it’s a future classic.
What We’re Working On
Stage 2 are finishing their animal infographics this week, and they look fantastic. The project was inspired by 'South With the Seabirds', a great non-fiction book from the CBCA shortlist. The students used their research skills to find some fun facts about the animals and plant life found on Macquarie Island, using Canva to create eye-catching digital infographics.
Stage 3 are putting the final touches on their book trailers. I can't wait to share these with you next term to inspire your reading choices! To get them just right, the students have been evaluating each other's work and giving constructive feedback on everything from the fonts to the colour choices. Everyone did a fantastic job on these.
The Premier’s Reading Challenge has closed!
The Premier's Reading Challenge has officially closed, and we have a new school record! A massive congratulations to the 138 students who completed the challenge this year. It's wonderful to see that the love of reading is so strong at our school. Certificates and special awards will be sent to the school at the end of Term 4 and will be presented at assemblies and on Presentation Day. A huge thank you to all the families who supported their children throughout the challenge.
Holiday Reading
Reading doesn't have to stop just because it's the holidays. You and your family can get stuck into a good book with our school's subscriptions to SORA and Storybox Hub.
SORA Books of the Week
SORA has released this week's recommended reads for primary and secondary students. Just scan the QR code or log in with your child's username and password to start reading. Don’t forget to search for the ACEN (Australian Catholic Education Network) library, NOT Holy Trinity School.

Local Library Fun
Don't forget to check out the Inverell Town Library during the holidays. The team there have put together an incredible school holiday programme filled with activities to celebrate reading and get those creative juices flowing. I've attached their programme below.
I hope everyone has a safe and restful holiday. See you all in Term 4!
Happy reading,
Mrs Toni Fraser
