Catholic Principles and Values

Within the Armidale Catholic Schools, the Catholic Principles and Values shape every aspect of our learning, relationships, and community life. Grounded in the truth that each person is created in the image of God, these principles guide us in helping children grow as compassionate, responsible and faith-filled people. They also align closely with our Living Well, Learning Well framework: I am safe, I am a learner, I am valued, respected and cared for.

Here are the four CPVs:

Primacy of God: We place God at the centre of our school life. Prayer, worship and acts of service remind us that we are called to love God and love our neighbour.

Living Well, Learning Well link: I am valued, respected and cared for.

Sanctity of Life: Every human life is sacred and worthy of dignity and respect. We teach our students to care for themselves, others, and creation.

Living Well, Learning Well link:  I am safe.

Fidelity in Relationships: Faithfulness, respect and trust are the foundation of all strong relationships - whether in families, friendships or community. Students learn that love is shown through kindness, honesty and support for one another.

Living Well, Learning Well link: I am valued, respected and cared for.

The Common Good: We are called to work for justice, compassion and fairness, especially for those most in need. In our schools, this means learning together, supporting each other, and ensuring everyone has the chance to succeed.

Living Well, Learning Well link:  I am a learner.

Recently, our Primary staff (K-6) spent an afternoon unpacking the Catholic Principles and Values and reflecting on what they look like in practice here at HTS. Together, we explored how these principles guide the way we teach, build relationships, and support our students each day. This time of reflection helps ensure that our Catholic identity continues to be lived out in meaningful and practical ways across our school community.
