From the Principal

Term 4 is definitely moving at a rate of knots. I am very much in the headspace of 2024 whole school strategic planning. It is not possible to effectively plan for 2024, without doing thorough evaluations of 2023. Currently our school leadership team is evaluating our key improvement strategies from our Annual Implementation Plan. As I have previously communicated, our core key improvement strategies this year were:

  1. To support students who need scaffolding and those who have thrived to continue to extend their learning, especially in numeracy.
  2. Effectively mobilise available resources to support students' wellbeing and mental health.

Across the year we have undertaken a range of actions to achieve these two important key improvement strategies. Our school leadership team have strategically implemented and monitored regular short term action plans. With these action plans, there have been different evaluative processes to identify the impact of these plans.

As a result of the careful implementation of our action plans we have achieved:

  1. The building of data literacy skills for all teachers, particularly in Mathematics.
  2. Teachers regularly engaging in team based professional learning sessions based on the needs of their students.
  3. Teachers engaging with different Berry St strategies to support the emotional regulation of students
  4. Teachers engaging with our whole school behaviour management framework in their classrooms.

We have used NAPLAN, DET's Student Attitude to School Survey, DET Staff Survey and the DET Parent Survey to also evaluate the impact of our work. This year, we have achieved outstanding results in all these data sets.

Our challenge into 2024, will be maintain these standards and to have the highest expectations with how we go about our work.

Grade 6 Graduation

Our Grade 6's are busily preparing for their graduation. This ceremony is such an important way to celebrate and acknowledge our Grade 6 group and the contributions they have made to Langwarrin Park Primary School.

This year for the first time we will be having our Graduation Ceremony at the Performing Arts Centre at Elisabeth Murdoch College.

2024 Parent Payments and Booklists

This week we sent home via Compass the 2024 parent payments booklists. All parent financial contributions go directly to enhancing our school programs. These financial contributions are voluntary, and I thank all parents who are able to make them.

2024 Class Lists

We are well into the planning stages of putting together our 2024 class lists. I will re-iterate that we have spent a huge amount of time putting the class lists together. Both generalist and specialist teams have reviewed the lists and the Principal Class Team also spend a considerable amount of time reviewing them.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy weekend.

Take care,

Richard
