At Karoo PS we believe in celebrating the growth of the whole child. We know that education is not only about a persons academic growth but also their social and emotional development. Throughout the year we have supported our students as they experience successes, challenges, the known and the unknown. Each experience that that they have supports their development as confident, compassionate, kind and tenacious individuals. As we come to the end of a year, it is important to take a moment to celebrate both the successes and the challenges and acknowledge the important learning that occurs in all experiences that we have.
We are so incredible proud of all of our students at Karoo PS and all that they have achieved this year. A HUGE congratulations to ALL!
As we move towards the end of the year, we continue to work to support our students during this transition time. The inclusion of our Step Up days, which occur at school, provide students with information about their 2024 year level and class.
Our first Step Up session occurred on Wednesday the 6th December, where students moved learning spaces into their 2024 year level space and learnt key information about their new year. The session was a WONDERFUL success with all student talking and sharing, even with a few nerves, how excited they were to be going into their 2024 year.
Our second Step Up session will occur on Tuesday the 12th December. On this day our students will be able to meet their 2024 teacher and classmates and engage in a wellbeing session together to get to know each other in preparation for 2024. On this day, students will also bring home a letter from their new teacher.
At Karoo PS, we also provide additional transition support to students as required, this ranges from student support group (SSG) meetings and action plans, to transition social stories, as well as a comprehensive 2023/2024 teacher hand over process.
Enjoy this special time with your child and if you have any questions regarding transition, please don't hesitate to speak to your child's teacher.
What an amazing year this has been at Karoo Primary School! We have all achieved so much as a community, and our parents, carers, staff and students make Karoo such a wonderful, kind and inspiring place to learn!
It is so important that we all work together to support our students and your children to thrive and we have seen this collaboration in so many areas this year. I sincerely thank you all for your continued support over 2023 and being such an integral part of making our school community such a warm, welcoming and inclusive environment.
I hope that you all have a wonderful holiday break and enjoy time together reflecting over all that has been achieved this year.
I look forward to seeing you all in 2024 for another brilliant year!
Kind Regards,
