Garlic Harvest & National Recycling Week

Each gardening class is harvesting a garlic which was sowed back at Easter time. Garlics need to be earthed for more than 6 months to develop in to a bulb. Students will hang them in their classrooms to dry.

Last week was National Recycling Week. In preparation for the fair, students discussed the different ways they could refuse,  reduce, reuse, repair, recycle, and then finally dispose of waste.

A fantastic resource for families to use is Planet Ark - recycling near you. If you have waste that you’re unsure of how to dispose of, this website will tell you where in your area you can do this for particular materials.

Holiday Chicken and Garden Help

It’s not  long until the end of year break. The hot weather is coming so the chickens will need extra TLC. If you could spare a week to do daily duty, it would be so appreciated. There will most likely be produce to harvest too. Please contact me aclarkson@scgleniris.catholic.edu.au to inform of your availability dates.
