Attendance Matters

GOAL IS TO DECREASE THE NUMBER OF ABSENCE DAYS FOR EVERY STUDENT (no more than 16 days in a calendar year)

As we begin Term 1, we would like to remind our families of the procedure when a child is absent from school.

All student absences MUST be entered via Compass.  Phone calls and emails are not the

preferred method of student absence notification.  If you email or call the school to report an absence, you will be requested to make an absence entry via Compass.

Please view the below flowcharts to help you understand the process:

Same Day Absences - Eg; you decide on the day that your child is unable to attend school

Known Absences - Eg; you know ahead of time that your child will be unable to attend school on a certain day/s

Late Drop Off & Early Collection

Eg; you have arrived 5 min late for school or require early collection for a medical appointment.

When lodging an absence via Compass please confirm the date/s of absence.  Office/teaching staff WILL NOT assume the continuation of an absence reason.

Unexplained absences will result in an automated text sent at 10am & 2:15pm.  Parents are asked to please respond to this text by lodging an absence on Compass or email the school if they feel the text may be incorrect.

Extended holiday absences will require a Student Absence Learning Plan (SALP).

SALP's are implemented to support the education of students who are absent from school for an extended period, they should be developed collaboratively by teachers, students and their parents.

If you are planning on taking an extended holiday and your child will be absent for more then 5 school days please notify the classroom teacher/office by email 2 weeks prior.  This will allow for time to have the SALP submitted prior to your departure.
