News

Dear Parents,

What a wonderful concert we experienced last Tuesday night! Students took us on a journey telling a story about how they can use our tool kit to help them to think in amazing ways that allow them to flourish and shine, making a difference in the world around them.

Even more importantly, they demonstrated they can achieve anything they set their minds to by changing their thinking, using positive self talk and thinking possibilities and solutions to anything that comes their way.

At St Joseph’s we strive to ensure our students are equipped with the necessary self awareness and self management skills and ultimately, we want our students to be motivated to learn, master new skills and apply their learning in an inspiring and agentic way.

Our 2023 school concert was designed and led by students. Student voice and agency provides the opportunity to flourish and shine, enriching their lives to know they can achieve anything they set out to do.

Students chose the theme and helped write the script. What amazing talent we have in our school! A huge thank you to Ebony Jenkins and Sue Jackson for their excellent leadership of the concert and to all staff who supported the concert in any way especially staff who made all of the wonderful costumes.

The link to the concert is being sent home this week via Operoo. Please make sure you do not share this video on any social media or any other platform to ensure that privacy for our students is of the highest priority.

Congratulations to our senior students on their excellent performance and participation in the Triathlon. It was such a positive day where students put their physical skills to the test competing against all of the schools in the District. Thank you to Emily Reed for organising the team and staff who assisted on the day.

A special congratulations to Daniel and Ben who came first and second in the individual triathlon which is an outstanding achievement.

Also to the team who participated in the bike challenge on Friday at Hastings.

A special shout out to Ruby and Tahlia past students who were in the top awards for Maths at Westernport College. We are so proud of our past students and congratulate them on all their achievements.

We continue with our upcoming preparation and transition program. This is such an important time of the year ensuring every child is ready to step up to the next stage of their journey. This process is scaffolded ensuring every child is prepared. We do this by bringing hope and optimism that the next part of the journey is going to be exciting and that they are prepared and capable to move forward.

As we head into the last few weeks of school we have many activities organised to ensure every student has a positive finish to the 2023 school year.  Activities such as swimming, beach days, triathlons, Colour runs and Christmas craft provide many opportunities for children to flourish.

Please support our upcoming Christmas celebration- invite everyone in our community to come along and join in.

Finally, we have our annual St Vincent De Paul Christmas hamper appeal and ask that all families support this most important appeal where we work to ensure we always have a lens on the poor and vulnerable in our community.

Yours in Partnership,

Gab
