Year Three Team News

Hello Year Three families,   

There certainly are a lot of fun events happening for our Year 3 Willy Kids - beginning with the fabulous disco last week. This weekend we have the much-anticipated Spring Fair to enjoy with all the Willy Primary community. 

 

Zoo Snooze:

Next week our Zoo Snooze has finally arrived.

  • Monday 27th November – 3C
  • Tuesday 28th November – 3D
  • Wednesday 29th November – 3R

The students will attend school on the day as normal and will be dropped off outside the main entrance of the Melbourne Zoo, at 6pm, where they will be greeted by their class teacher. They will spend the following day at the zoo and return to school by bus in time for normal school pick up. 

A note will come home this week with all the details and what the students need to pack. Let’s hope for good weather.

 

The student’s Oral Presentations on an endangered Australian animal have begun and the students are doing a terrific job. Thank you for supporting your children with these.

 

Fortnightly Curriculum Focus:

Reading: Navigating online texts using the Kids news site. Completing comprehension tasks and revising skills to assist in comprehension when reading.

Writing:  Continue following the writing process to complete writing an information report on an imaginary animal.

Numeracy:  Data -  Investigate and construct a variety of ways to represent data. 

                                      Interpret and compare different data displays.

                                      Interpret and compare data displays.

 

Inquiry: Endangered Species- What Can We Do?  Oral presentations about an endangered Australian animal. Zoo Snooze follow up.

 

Homework

Literacy:  15-20 minutes of reading daily, 10 minutes of spelling practice related to the SMART spelling focus or personal words.

Numeracy: 10 minutes of revision focusing on concepts taught at school. Keep working on times tables recall.
