Year One Team News

with Anna, Marina & Claire

Hello Year One families,

What an exciting few weeks we have had! The past two Thursdays have seen us celebrate the Grade 1 dinner and the much anticipated School Disco. The kids no doubt have reported how much fun they had at both. Whilst there is no event tonight, there is still so much to look forward to this term, particularly the Seaside Fair on Sunday. We are looking forward to seeing you all there!

Assembly:

Well done to 1D for hosting another fantastic assembly with 2K. Tomorrow will see the final Grade 1/2 assembly for the year with 1R hosting with 2J!

Curriculum Focus: Weeks 9-10

Reading: We have now finished the Little Learners Love Literacy program. The remainder of this term will be revision of stage 7.4.

Writing: The students will continue to work on their narrative story. With lots of guided work and scaffolding, the students are creating another wonderful story which they are already excited to share.

Numeracy: We will be focusing on revising the maths topics we have covered this term and during the year.

Inquiry:  Our topic this term is ‘What Makes Things Move?’ and have been exploring the different forces used to make things move. Starting next week, the students will make their own moving toys.

Willy Kids/Respectful Relationships: The Willy Kids focus is “Willy Kids are Ambitious” where students will be discussing what it means to be an ambitious, independent learner. Our focus for Respectful Relationships this term is “Help Seeking”.

Warm regards,

The Grade One Team –  Anna Swan (1S), Marina Robb (1R)  & Claire Davies (1D)
