Year 5/6 Team News

Hello Year 5/6 families, 

Literacy

Our students have just started working on their picture story books to gift to their buddies at the end of the year. We have spent several lessons unpacking the features of picture story books and the 5/6s have interviewed their buddies to find out more about their interests. We’re looking forward to some amazing published work.

Maths

Well done to our 5/6s on some great work during our unit on BODMAS. We have also done some revision of the four operations. As we wrap-up end-of-year assessment we are looking forward to beginning Learning Contracts next week during which our students will get a taste for what it is like to manage their learning like high-schoolers.

Inquiry

We have continued to explore the reasons why people have come to Australia. In the last few sessions we have investigated WWII and the Vietnam War as these were significant events that shaped the population of our country.

End-of-Year Fun

A reminder to parents that we have many events and excursions coming up over the term. Please stay tuned to Compass for event details. A good night’s sleep and plenty of healthy, fortifying snacks will help our Willy Kids to maintain their energy through all of the excitement of this term.

Congratulations

We welcome back our Somers Camp adventurers who were away from 14th November to 22 November. This is a long time to be away from home and we are confident that the memories made on this camp will stay with these students for many years to come.
