A gentle reminder that Friday 17th May will be a Pupil Free Day so that teachers can attend a workshop in Bathurst facilitated by Dr Dan White about Contemporary and Practical Teaching Strategies to help 'unlock' the Wonder and Beauty of the Scriptures.
Sacred Scriptures have always been the ‘Cornerstone’ of any Religious Education curriculum and the McAuley staff are looking forward to learning more about how to thoughtfully and creatively engage students in a ‘study’ of these scriptures.
Please join us for our first full school Mass for Term 2.
Pentecost Mass (Led by Year 4)
Thursday 16th May @9:30am at St Joseph's Church
There are many diferences between a Mass and a Liturgy of the Word. The main two differences are that a Mass is celebrated with a priest, and therefore we receive the Eucharist.
At our school liturgies a priest is not present therefore we cannot receive the body of Christ.
One of the first things catholics do when they go into church is called "genuflecting."
This means they stop in the aisle-before they go into a pew- to kneel one one knee and bow otheir head to show respect and honour for God the Son who is present in the Holy Eucharist.
Throughout the year each class from Year 3-6 will attend reconciliation at St Joseph's Church. This will commence at 10am or at the conclusion of the Thursday Parish Mass.
All are invited to attend Reconciliation with one of the priests.
Week 4: 6Y and 6B
Week 6: 5M and 5Y
Week 8: 5B and 6M
Each year each grade participates in a grade retreat. This is a fun day of learning about our faith, participating in prayer, reflection, singing and games.
This term Year 3 will go to James Sheahan and will participate in a spiritual retreat with other catholic schools in our area on Friday 31st May (Week 5).
Kindergarten will have their retreat day on Thursday 27th June at Kenna Hall.
