Special Person’s Day Breakfast

From all reports back at school, this year’s Special Person’s breakfast was a great success! A huge contingent of our school community came together to celebrate some of the special people in our students’ lives - their parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles and more!

A huge thank you to Nicole Mills, the convener of the Community and Engagement Subcommittee, for her hard work organising today’s event, as well as the team of helpers who helped make it happen. Thanks also to our school council President Suzy Schmitz for speaking at today’s event. This event follows a series of community events organised by the subcommittee over the last month, including a parent movie night, a Grade 5/6 movie night and student discos! We are very fortunate to have such an active group of families who coordinate these community events.

I also want to acknowledge our student leaders who got out of bed early today to help serve hot chocolate and hand out breakfast - as well as the staff who were there to provide support.

Unfortunately, Tania and I missed out on today’s breakfast, as it clashed with the Yarra Darebin Network Conference. The conference has been a fantastic opportunity for us to reflect on our leadership practice and continue our own professional learning alongside other principals and assistant principals in our network.

Key Dates Coming Up

On Thursday 13th June our Grade 5s and 6s will participate in their Term 2 Gala Sports Day. This is an all day event where the students will compete in round robin competitions against other local schools in our winter sports of soccer, AFL, netball and tee ball. Best of luck to all the students who are competing!

On Wednesday 26th June, from 9.10am (until 9.45am) families are invited into the classrooms to share in some of the student work, as part of our Term 2 student learning showcase.

Our last day of term is Friday 28th June. There will be a final assembly at 1.45pm and we finish early at 2.30pm.

Don’t forget that this Monday is a public holiday - we look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Tuesday next week.

Have a great long weekend.
