Languages Assistant Welcome

At the beginning of this term, the College welcomed Anastasia Piccioni, who comes directly to us from Jesi, Italy. Anastasia has joined the college as part of the CO.AS.IT Language Assistants Program. The program places young university graduates from Italy to work as language assistants in Victorian schools. Greensborough College and Anastasia were both successful applicants in this program, and we are fortunate to have her. Anastasia will be with us for the remainder of 2024. 

Anastasia is working both in and outside of classes to: 

Provide opportunities for teachers and students to increase their fluency in the language.  

Provide staff and students with opportunities to increase their knowledge and understanding of Italy, its language, and culture.  

Promote language learning, intercultural understanding, and foster relationships between our school and Italy. 

Already, Anastasia has: 

• Provided students with appropriate audio recordings for various classes and activities.  
• Assisted students one-on-one and in small groups during class.  
• Created authentic materials and resources for classroom activities. 
• Shared her experiences of being Italian in Italy with students. 

We strongly believe that our languages program is further strengthened by having Anastasia here with us, and her presence will be felt long after the year is over.
