Dear Families,
St Therese's Vision and Mission
After our school review last year, the leadership team and I worked together to draft our Strategic Intent for the upcoming four-year cycle. This was shared with staff and, after a couple of tweaks our Strategic Intent was completed. I extend my gratitude to the families who shared their ideas and language during this process. This was most helpful and reflected in the language that forms our intent:
St Therese's Strategic Intent 2024 -2027 - St Therese’s will be a safe and inclusive environment where all members of the community feel respected. The staff will be collaborative, reflective and confident with a deepened knowledge of content and practice. Our students will be challenged and confident in their learning, demonstrating accelerated growth in all areas.
As part of the work to form this, it was also decided that we would review our school vision and mission. We looked to see if the language in our current statements matched that of our Strategic Intent. I'm sharing our new Vision and Mission statements with you as well so that you can see what we aspire to as a school.
St Therese's Vision - At St Therese’s Catholic Primary School our vision is simple: do all that you do with love. We aspire to provide a faith-filled, safe, respectful and welcoming community where everyone thrives.
St Therese's Mission - At St Therese’s we are an integral part of the Parish of St Agatha’s. We are committed to the spiritual, emotional and academic growth of our young people and to guiding them on their journey of faith and lifelong learning.
Keeping our children safe
Over the next few weeks, the children will be participating in road safety learning in their classrooms. This has come from some friendly neighbours sharing concerns about how the children cross the road before and after school. Please take some time to talk to the children about safe crossing practices. Remember, little people can be very impulsive and the safest way for them to cross the road is when holding the hand of an adult.
I know it is frustrating that the crossing is no longer supervised but I am asking each of you to be extra vigilent when parking or pulling out into the traffic. Please continue to use the crossing area rather than encouraging the children to cross between parked cars. I also ask that you don't encourage children to run across the road. We all have our part to play in keeping the children safe.
Winter is here!
We are certainly starting to feel the chill now and cough, cold and flu season is upon us. If your child is unwell, please keep them at home as this will help minimise the spread of illnesses.
I have the pleasure of being on duty most mornings and I love greeting the children as they arise but I am concerned by the number of them not wearing a jumper or coat on chilly mornings. If your child is missing a jumper, please encourage them to check the lost property box - there are a lot there. Many families have asked for clarification regarding the wearing of coats or beanies. I encourage this and whilst school colours for coats are preferred, any coat is better than no coat! We do have a small supply of St Therese's beanies available for purchase in the office, unfortunately PSW are not stocking these. If they prove popular we will look into ordering some more. Beanies and coats are not to be worn in the classroom.
Stay warm and we look forward to you joining us on Friday for our Feast of the Sacred Heart Mass, 12.15pm in the school hall.
