Newlands Shines at Cross Country District

Last Wednesday, the Jackson Reserve in Coburg was buzzing with energy as 25 Newlands students participated in the Cross Country District Championships. Our students showcased their running prowess and sportsmanship, making us very proud.

In the 10-year-old category, both categories ran a challenging 2km, while the 11 and 12-year-old categories tackled a 3km course. Despite the tough competition, our students rose to the occasion, demonstrating remarkable effort and determination.

We are very happy to announce that four of our students have qualified for the Cross Country Divisions in their respective categories:

- Isla Smith secured her spot in the 10-year-old girls' category with a commendable 6th place finish. Her exceptional running skills were on full display, showcasing her dedication and talent.

- Florence Thompson Jolley achieved a remarkable 6th place in the 11-year-old girls' category. Her determination and perseverance during the race were truly amazing, reflecting her strong spirit and sportsmanship.

- Paxton Glover achieved an extraordinary feat by coming in first place in the 11-year-old boys' category. Paxton's exceptional performance left everyone in awe, highlighting his incredible talent and hard work.

- Claude Keal battled back from an ankle injury to secure 7th place in the 12-year-old boys' category. His perseverance and resilience were truly inspiring, showcasing the true spirit of a champion.

The Newlands community is bursting with pride for all our 25 participants. Well done!!!

Just a quick note :)

Physical activity and exercise in nature play a vital role in children's development. Apart from the obvious health benefits, such activities enhance cognitive function, improve concentration, and boost overall well-being. Being outdoors also provides a valuable opportunity for kids to explore and learn about the natural world around them, fostering a deeper connection with their environment.

Congratulations once again to all our participants. Your hard work and dedication have truly paid off, and we cannot be prouder of you all at NPS.

Yours faithfully,

Raul - Health and PE Teacher
