NATIONAL RECONCILIATION WEEK

The National Reconciliation Week 2024 theme is “Now More Than Ever”.

This theme is a reminder to all of us that no matter what, the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will —and must —continue.

Now more than ever, we need to tackle the unfinished business of reconciliation.

Reconciliation supporters must stand up to defend and uphold the rights of First Nations peoples. To call out racism wherever we encounter it, and to actively reinforce the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across this continent.

Now more than ever, the work continues. In treaty making, in truth-telling, in understanding our history, in education, and in tackling racism. We need connection. We need respect. We need action. And we need change.

Now more than ever, we need reconciliation.

Reconciliation is an important journey for our Greenhills Primary School community as we all have a role to play when it comes to collectively building relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, cultures, and futures.

THANK YOU WORKING BEE LEGENDS

A huge shout out to all our families that attended our Term 2 Working Bee last Saturday. We managed to get a coat of paint on the Ga-Ga pit, stairs and handrails around the school along with some general cleaning. It is a challenge keeping our grounds as neat and tidy as they should be. Our working bee’s really make a difference and for that we say a big thank you!

CURRICULUM DAY LAST WEEK

We had a highly successful Curriculum Day last Friday. Our teachers were engaged with professional learning around the new Mathematics Curriculum 2.0 and our updated Planning Model and Instructional Model. Our Education Support staff completed a variety of First Aid qualifications and updates.

MID-TERM 2 MEET WITH THE PRINCIPAL TEAM

Don’t forget that tonight we have our next Mid-Term Meet with the Principal Team. This will be via Webex from 7.30pm. The sessions are held at the mid-point of each term. We introduced this last year to help keep you in the loop with things that are happening across our school. They are also another forum to ask questions, provide feedback and suggestions and continue our strong home school partnership. At this meeting we will share more details about School Wide Positive Behaviour, Building & Grounds Projects and Student Leadership and even share some details about how our teachers plan maths lessons! DISTRICT CROSS COUNTRY

Congratulations to all students who represented our school at the District Cross Country last Thursday. For our school, the main purpose of a sporting event such as this is the experience and challenge it brings. Just getting to this level is an achievement. It is also a wonderful opportunity and outlet for students to demonstrate their athletic ability whilst also learning about the highs and lows of competition in a healthy and supportive way.

Good luck to those students who achieved results in the top 10, which means they progress into the next level of competition which is Division.

Thank you to Jordan Daley for his passion and commitment to sport at our school and across the District. It is great to have staff like this who are so dedicated to all students, those achieving at very high levels and those that just want to have a go.

ENROLMENT FOR 2025

There continues to be strong interest in our school for students enrolling in 2025. Each week we run an organised school tour and the feedback we are getting from parents attending these tours about our school and the perception of it in the community is positive. If you have a child starting school next year, please ensure that you fill out an enrolment form now.   Here is a link direct to the Enrolment form: greenhillsps.vic.edu.au/_files/ugd/646224_b9ebc0e86e714ade92738fefe89cdfe6.pdf
