Pete Cromer

This term the Grade 5 and 6 students have been learning about hugely successful Victorian artist Pete Cromer. Many recognised his work that they have seen on drink bottles, placemats, tea towels, and even sultana packets! Pete's colourful painted paper collages are often inspired by the native animals we all know and love, koalas, cockatoos, echidnas and many more. The students have been drawing their own colourful designs, not to make collages, but to make cute little animal softies, sewed by hand.

This week they made a pattern, pinned it to their chosen felt and started to cut the material. Next, they will learn some basic stitches like running and whip stitch to sew their felt together. I can't wait see these cute softies come to life!
