Ben Venue Junior and Senior Choirs Perform at Lazenby Hall

On May 22 and 23 our school choirs performed in the Armidale Eisteddfod at Lazenby Hall, UNE.  Both groups were excited, nervous and for many students this was the first time they had sung in front of a full house of hundreds of people. 

Adjudicator Ian Jefferson from Sydney had positive feedback for both choirs but special mention must be made of the Junior Choir.  As one of the only public schools competing in a section of six strong ensembles including NECOM's own Cantelina and local private schools, we came second overall with some outstanding feedback!

More important than results is the experience our students have gained both performing and seeing and hearing other quality performances. We are very lucky to live in a region that offers so many musical opportunities for our students.

Ian Jefferson will be back in Armidale with pieces of music he has written specifically for our students and our town and will be workshopping these with both of our choirs and other groups across Armidale. These workshops will culminate in the 2024 "New England Sings!" concert. Stay tuned for details.
