From the Principal

The weather this week has been a nice treat, the mornings are cold but the days have been amazing. Unfortunately, Danielle and I tested positive for COVID earlier this week and have been away from school. I thank the leadership team and all the staff for their flexibility and hard work to keep the school running like clockwork. We are in the middle of a COVID wave at school and this brings about challenges with staffing. Some learning programs may be impacted and not able to run at full capacity as we work through this short period. I ask families to be patient and understanding with us as we navigate this period.

Just a note for families there is no assembly on June 10th due to the school being closed for the King's Birthday Public Holiday. The next assembly will be held on the 24th of June.

I sent communication out over the weekend in regards to our Before and After School program. I encourage families to continue to use this service as much as they need. Hopefully, with the changes in place, we can have more consistency. I thank families for their patience in this space. It is a topic that has been discussed at our School Advisory Council meetings and I have shared the challenges around engaging with alternate providers given that we are a smaller school.

A big congratulations to the students who represented our school at the District Cross Country last Friday. We had four students progress to the Divisional round on June 4th. Well done team STM and we wish the students who have progressed all the best at Division.

Next Thursday evening (6th of June), our Year Six boys and their families have been invited to St Joseph's for the Light House Expo evening. I hope to see as many families there as possible. Students and families are to arrive by 5:45 pm and the evening will conclude at 7:30 pm.

Winter Sports:

Next Friday our Year 3-6 students are participating in the winter sports carnival. We are competing in three sports. AFL, Soccer and Volleyball. Thank you so much to the parents who have indicated they are willing to be parent helpers. We will reach out to you early next week and let you know logistics and where you will be supporting (you will of course be at the same location your child/ren are playing).

As mentioned above the school will be closed on Monday, June 10th for the King's Birthday Public Holiday.
