Victorian Premiers' Reading Challenge
534 Books Already Read!
The Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge is now open and St Joseph's is excited to be participating for another year. We will be encouraging as many students as possible to participate across our school - and can’t wait to celebrate students through our school newsletter and assemblies.
The Challenge is open to all Victorian children from birth to Year 10 in recognition of the importance of reading for literacy development - all students at St Joseph’s have been activated and should have received their login information in the last few weeks.
If students choose to participate in the challenge, they earn badges as milestones are reached, and have the opportunity to create their own avatars and book reviews.
The VPRC is not a competition; but a personal challenge for children to read a set number of books by the 6th of September, 2024. All children who meet the challenge will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the Victorian Premier and former Premiers.
Children from Prep to Year 2 are required to read or ‘experience’ 30 books with their parents and teachers, while students from Year 3 to 6 are challenged to read 15 books.
Please be mindful that the selection of books should be made up of books listed on the set book list, as well as reader’s choice.

This year our wonderful school leaders, Lisa Mclean (Prep-2), Meg Wilkinson (Years 3 & 4) and Elaine Shanahan (Years 5 & 6) are working alongside Alannah Harrison to facilitate the challenge across the school.
If you have any questions about participating or signing up please get in touch.
Happy Reading!
