Foundation (Prep)
English
In Prep C, we have been discussing the differences between creative and information texts and have talked about ways to identify each type of book.
You may have noticed that in our classroom we have some different coloured hats on the wall. These are referred to as 'Thinking Hats'. The hats are used to help students look at texts from different perspectives. During our writing about Autumn and Bones, we practised thinking with our information hat on. This past fortnight we have started practising writing imaginative stories with our creative hats on.
We read the story of Dazzle the Dinosaur, by Marcus Pfister. The class then thought of different imaginative things that Dazzle could do. The students then used their sound charts to have a go at writing their first creative story.
Maths
Continuing our unit on Addition, students have been introduced to using the strategies of doubles and near doubles, to assist them with solving problems. We have completed a craft activity, played games and practised solving problems.
With so many families being unwell recently, I hope you all enjoy a well deserved rest this weekend.
Take care,
Mrs Callaway
