Principal's Report
Celebrations, Competitions and Enriching Excursions...
It's been another action-packed week at Andersons Creek Primary School, filled with exciting events and enriching experiences for our students.
Our Mother’s Day celebrations were a huge success, starting with the Mother’s Day Stall. A heartfelt thank you goes to Jaime Noye and her team of parent helpers for organising and running this wonderful annual event. The children absolutely loved the opportunity to handpick special gifts for their mums. Following this, we had a fantastic turnout at the Mother’s Day Breakfast. It was a lovely way to celebrate and show appreciation for all the wonderful things our mums do. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this event so special. Particularly our volunteers preparing and serving food and drinks. Thank you to TheirCare who provided a generous financial contribution to our Mother's Day Breakfast.
Our students represented ACPS with distinction at the District Cross Country. Their performance was outstanding, showcasing great talent, grit and determination on a tough course. We are proud to announce that ACPS emerged as the overall winners of the event! Congratulations to everyone who participated and good luck to those moving onto the Division Cross Country.
We also held our Parent-Teacher Interviews last week. Thank you to everyone who took the time to attend these important sessions for feedback on student learning progress. We hope you found the opportunity valuable. We greatly appreciate the strong partnership between parents and teachers in supporting our students.
All reports from the Grade 3 and 4 excursion to Currawong Bush Park last Friday indicate it was fantastic. It offered students a chance to connect with nature, encounter local wildlife, and engage in sustainability activities. Focused on waste, recycling, biodiversity, leadership, and ecology, the program aims to inspire environmental responsibility. The students had a great time, and we extend our gratitude to the teachers and educators within the Manningham Sustainability Education Program for facilitating this enriching experience.
We were excited to participate in the National Simultaneous Storytime this week, an annual event that promotes the joy of reading. This year's book, Bowerbird Blues by Australian author Aura Parker, was a hit in all classrooms. A big thank you goes to Linda Zanatta for her work coordinating this and all the teachers for implementing this wonderful event in their classrooms. Our Prep and Grade 1 students, along with their Grade 5/6 buddies, constructed some incredible bowers in the playground following the reading, showcasing their creativity and teamwork.
I strongly believe that learning experiences and events like these that take learning beyond the classroom are invaluable in enhancing our academic curriculum and the development of our children. They provide our students with opportunities to engage with the world around them in meaningful ways. I want to acknowledge the immense effort that goes into organising these events, whether by our dedicated teachers or our wonderful parent volunteers. Thank you all for continually going above and beyond for our students.
ACPS BIG FREEZE
Get ready for the ACPS Big Freeze on June 12 from 2pm - 3:30pm! Building on the success of last year, this year’s event promises to be bigger and better with the addition of a dunk tank and a longer list of staff to dunk at each dollar value milestone on our journey to our target. We even have a guest dunking prepared of our local CFA Captain Will Hodgson. If we hit our $1000 goal, Mr. Webber will be taking the plunge into an icy tank of freezing cold water whilst suited up!
