Year 1 Update

Upcoming Learning -Term 2, Weeks 8 & 9

During the next fortnight, Year 1 students will be undertaking learning in the following areas:

Reading	Students continue to engage in literacy activities using the Little Learners Love Literacy program. The focus texts for our reading are relating to the community. Our digraph focus is the long ‘u’ including u-e, oo, ew and u.
Writing	Students are learning about factual descriptions and using FANBOYS to add conjunctions into their informative writing. They continue to work on their handwriting daily.
Maths	Students are learning about near doubles, doubles and addition strategies. They are looking at simple addition problems to learn about multiplication .
Inquiry	Students are exploring communities including their classroom, school, community groups they belong to and community helpers. We are exploring our community using Google Maps and will be working on a collaborative project to build a service from within our community.
SEL	Students are engaging in learning activities through the Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships program . We are also exploring behaviour expectations, listening and respect, looking at the interrupting chicken text and activities .
