Our Learning 

Pre-Reading

· Identifying first letters of their names and sounding these out 

· Listening for words beginning with a common letter in a story 

· Borrowing books from the ELC Library to read at home 

· Using the illustrations in a book to assist with telling the story

Pre-Writing 

· Building core strength through a range of exercises 

· Engaging in finger gym exercises 

· Exploring letter shape and formation

STEM

· Familiarising themselves with numbers in printed in their numerical form; developing their understanding of one-to-one correspondence

· In the lead up to World Oceans Day the children are beginning to consider pollution of the waterways and the actions they can take to reduce this

Inquiry

 

· Exploring the Unit of Inquiry: How we express ourselves through art

· Transferring the skills the children have been practising when working with pipe cleaners to the use of wire. Using wire cutters.

· Exploring different painting techniques and effects as they paint with sponges 

· Developing the technique of using clay tools to draw into clay 

· Using painted papers as a backdrop for their collages and to add features to their work

Social and Emotional · In line with National Reconciliation Week the children have been discussing how they feel when they are left out and what action they can take when they see someone who is left out

Celebration of learning

The children have been exploring different art mediums, including box construction, collage painting with a range of media, wire, clay and construction with wood offcuts, and learning the techniques associated with using these.

Enrolments for free 3 and 4 year old sessional kindergarten. 

Enrol through Casey Council for Hillsmeade Kindergarten. 

Long Day Care enrolments with kindergarten is through the ELC office.
