National  Reconciliation Week

 27th- 31st May

National Reconciliation Week is a time for Australians to reflect on the shared journey towards reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples.

It's a week dedicated to acknowledging the historical injustices, celebrating Indigenous culture, and fostering understanding and respect.

Through various events, discussions, and activities, National Reconciliation Week aims to promote unity, equality, and healing across the nation. It serves as a reminder of the importance of reconciliation in building a brighter and supportive environment.

As students, we play an important role in encouraging reconciliation within our communities. It's about listening to the stories of Indigenous peoples, understanding their perspectives, and working together towards a respectful and equal community where everyone is valued.

Last Friday Hillsmeade Primary School's Koori Club students attended an excursion to Alkira Secondary College to participate in a smoking ceremony ran by a member from Bunurong land council. It was great for our students to see siblings, and past Hillsmeade students and continue to build on the connection with Alkira Secondary College.
