Year 2 Update
Upcoming learning in Year 2
POINEER DAY
On Tuesday the Year 2 students took part in a ‘Pioneer Day’ exploring and engaging in different activities from the past and present. Students dressed up in olden day wear, made scones, learnt a dance and wrote with ink pens. The students and staff had an amazing day!
Here are some photos from the day!
Here is what the Year 2 students have being doing during the last fortnight of learning and also a sneak peek to what is coming next in Year 2.
Reading - Students will be engaging in literacy activities using the Little Learners Love Literacy program. During reading classes they will be using a range of different text to expand their comprehension. We will look at answering questions, making connections and facts and opinion using a range of different mentor texts.
Writing - Students have now began procedural writing. The students were lucky this week to make face biscuits. They will write the procedure on how to make face biscuits though the week. It was a great way to start our block on procedural writing!
Maths - Year 2 students have moved on from addition and into multiplication. Students are engaging in learning activities using unfix, blocks and counters to create a number sentence story, write the repeated addition sum and skip count pattern to match.

News and reminders:
Library books and borrowing: Each week or fortnight we visit the library and encourage our students to borrow a book. At the moment we have most students borrowing, which is great to see. However along with this we have at least 40 students within our year level with overdue books. Can you please help your child to find and put their library book into their bag so it can be returned to the library. Any concerns please talk to your classroom teacher.
Jumpers: Students need to come to school with jumpers and jackets. A friendly reminder to make sure they are named clearly with your child's name and class.
Home Reading: Take home readers have started. We encourage all students to bring their reader bag back each week to change over their books. Please make sure you are recording when your children are reading each night.
