I keep telling our students that reading is like going on a journey where books can take you anywhere. Novels really take readers out of the real world into imaginary places such as Narnia in “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” by C.S. Lewis. “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” depicts Christian elements where the Christ-like lion, Aslan sacrifices himself for others.
Lewis was born in 1898 and grew up in a religious family but became an atheist as a young teenager until 15 years later when he became a Christian. On his road to Christianity, Lewis said in letters that he was no longer searching for a subjective state of mind but something outside himself. During the late 1920’s Lewis examined the New Testament Gospels, especially the Gospel of John helping shape his Christian beliefs.
