Senior School Update
It is hard to believe that Term 3 is already drawing to a close and the end of the year is in sight. Throughout the term, both staff and students have been kept busy with SACs, assessments, classes, and a wide range of activities.
In Week 8, our Year 12 students participated in an engaging seminar with Elevate Education, which focused on preparing for examinations. The session provided practical strategies for effective study in the lead up to exams, along with valuable techniques for staying calm, managing time, and writing clear and concise responses under pressure. By building these skills, students are developing the confidence and resilience they need to succeed now and into the future.
As we approach the release of Unit results, it is important to remind families of the requirements for students to achieve an ‘S’ (Satisfactory) outcome in their VCE subjects, as outlined in our Senior School Administrative Handbook. This protocol ensures that all students undertaking VCE subjects in Years 10, 11, and 12 are adequately prepared before attempting School Assessed Coursework (SACs). To be eligible to sit a SAC, students must first meet the requirements for achieving a satisfactory outcome in the subject. These requirements are clearly detailed in the VCE Handbook, which is available to students, families, and staff on Compass for easy reference. Please do not hesitate to reach out to Year Level Coordinators and applicable classroom teachers for support and guidance around these matters.
Attendance and punctuality have also remained a strong focus across the Senior School and the College as a whole. It has been wonderful to see so many students arriving to class on time each morning. This positive habit not only supports learning but also develops a valuable life skill that will serve them well beyond school. Each week, we have proudly celebrated our E.P.I.C award winners—students who have been present in every class, every period.
It has also been fantastic to see students consistently demonstrating our college values of Respect, Resilience and Responsibility, acknowledged through the Merit system. Students are awarded green Merits when they actively demonstrate these values, while inappropriate behaviours may result in orange Minors (–1 point) or red Majors (–2 points). Merits can then be accumulated and redeemed at the Merit Shop, located in the Year 10 and 11 Senior School Coordination Office. Open every Friday lunchtime, the shop has seen lots of activity this term, with many students enjoying the rewards of their positive efforts. If you haven’t yet spent your Merits, be sure to stop by next term to see what’s on offer!
Finally, I would like to wish all our Year 12 students a restful break. Many will be dedicating time to holiday practice exams in preparation for their final assessments, and I commend them for their effort and commitment. With a short two-week break ahead, I look forward to an exciting and busy Term 4, full of learning, growth, and celebration.
