Junior School Update

The year is moving quickly, and as another busy term comes to a close, we want to share some important updates and reminders with our school community.

Subject Selections for 2026

All students should have now submitted their subject selections for next year and returned their signed printouts to the junior school office (or the senior school office for Year 9 students, who will transition to senior school in 2026).

Class teachers meeting with co-ordinators

A few weeks ago, class teachers of each form in years 7 to 9 had the opportunity to meet with each other and the year level co-ordinators to share ideas, strategies and learning that is working well in each class. This allows staff to better know their students and to work collaboratively with each other to help build the best learning environments. Thanks to the co-ordinators and staff who attended and gave their time.

Year 7 Wheelathon Experience

On September 5th, our Year 7 students had the unique opportunity to participate in activities organized by the ‘Wheelathon’ organisation. Through fun and engaging challenges in wheelchairs, students gained valuable insight into the daily difficulties faced by those who use wheelchairs. Thank you to Ms Jackie Smith and her VCEVM Project Learning class for organizing this meaningful event.

Merit Shop Now Open

Students from Years 7 to 9 can now redeem their positive behaviour points at the Merit Shop, which is open each Friday lunchtime in the junior school office. Rewards include lollies, chocolates, snacks, drinks, stationery, games, and canteen vouchers. Points can be accrued and redeemed up until the end of the school year.

Year 9 City Experience Excursions

In the first two weeks of Term Four, Year 9 students will take part in city experience excursions. Forms 9A, B, and C will meet at Dandenong Station each morning from Tuesday 7th to Friday 10th October, while Forms 9D, E, and F will do so from Tuesday 14th to Friday 17th October. Students have been preparing by learning about Melbourne’s history, street layout, and public transport. We hope this experience builds confidence, resilience, and an appreciation for the city they live in.

Punctuality Reminder

At Lyndale Secondary College, we uphold the values of Respect, Resilience, and Responsibility. Arriving to school and classes on time is a key expectation reflecting these values. Students who arrive late to school or class at the start of the day will not be permitted to enter class immediately. Instead, they must sign into the senior school study hall and complete lessons via Compass. Continued lateness will result in escalating consequences, including parent contact. Please encourage your child to get enough rest, wake up early, and leave home on time to be ready for school by 8:50 am.

Thank you for your support in helping our students embody our college values and make the most of their learning opportunities.
