Wellbeing News

The Wellbeing team this term has been busy! With the latest RUOK day activities, blue edge, community pantry, homework club, breakfast club, international student social lunches, artsbus, le mana mentoring program, bullying no way, year 8 boys’ group, wear it purple day and the Muslim’s girls’ group. Just to name a few. We will dive deeper into some of them now.

Fitness Club

Fitness Club has been a great success on Wednesday afternoons, running many different sports with students learning new skills and engaging in sports they have not tried before. It has been so popular we have created another group running at the same time. Community Pantry has cemented itself as a staple for wellbeing where parents have been able to connect with the school and other parents over a coffee. Being able to grab some groceries to take home for the week. Homework Club attendance has been going up where some stand out sessions have been creative writing tasks, goal setting and effective note taking for exam study.

Blue Edge

Blue Edge was a chance for the students to engage in some personal training in the mornings and self-development by reflecting on, resilience, mental health and personally learning from the police officers with their own, on the job stories and wealth of knowledge. A final celebration day will have everyone attending Bayside Rock Climbing where they can push through their physical and mental limits.

UOK Day

RUOK day’s activities involved four different stations spread across the school where students learnt the four steps to checking in with others and yourself. With the added bonus of a cupcake for those that successfully completed the tasks.

Overall, the wellbeing team is continually improving on the different programs and activities we run throughout each term aiming to foster community and positivity at Lyndale Secondary College. We aim to take what we have learnt in term 3 to make term 4 and 2026 even better!

Year 7 Vaping Workshops

Dandenong Youth Services visited all Year 7 classes this term to deliver health educaion about vaping. The sessions provided students with information about the negative health impacts of vaping, debunked common misconceptions and helped students build skills to say ‘no’. The sessions were very engaging and provided students with lots of valuable information about the risks associated with vapes.

Wear it Purple Day

The Department of Education has a strong commitment to ensuring all Victorian government schools are respectful, safe and inclusive places of learning and work for all students, staff and members of our school communities. As part of this commitment, the department supported all schools to recognise and celebrate Wear it Purple Day on Friday 29 August 2025.

Wear it Purple Day is an annual celebration of LGBTIQA+ young people. It aims to foster safe and accepting environments for young people who identify as LGBTIQA+ and show them they are seen and supported. This year’s theme was ‘Bold Voices, Bright Futures’, which encouraged self-expression, visibility and pride.

We celebrated Wear it Purple Day at school with lunch time activities including a pledge wall, badge making with Dandenong Youth Services, colouring competitions and giant Jenga.

Study Success for Senior School students

Our senior school students are focusing on preparing for end of year exams and finishing off final pieces of work for their classes. Creating a study plan that includes time for study, work commitments and regular breaks, is a great way students can set themselves up for success over the school holidays and Term 4. Here are some resources from Reach

Out that include great study tips for students
