Assistant Principal Report

Student Engagement & Management
I would like to begin by sincerely thanking Ms. Monique Lenehan Moustafa for stepping into my role during my three-week long service leave. Her dedication and leadership ensured the smooth running of the school in my absence.
Through this experience, I’ve come to appreciate that there are never truly “quiet” terms or quiet periods in a school calendar. Each day brings new and exciting challenges, keeping us all on our toes!
I am very pleased with how cooperative our students have been regarding punctuality in the mornings. It is wonderful to see students respecting class start times, with the majority lining up and entering their classrooms before the bell, ready to begin learning. This positive behavior reflects their eagerness and enthusiasm to engage with their studies.
While most students are adjusting well, we are still working with a small handful who are learning to regulate their body clocks and arrive on time. I encourage parents to continue supporting their children in establishing a balanced and structured routine between school, work, and home life. Developing good habits now will greatly benefit them in their post-school lives.
We are also excited to announce that Lyndale Secondary College will be offering the following VET courses on site next year:
- Certificate II in Building & Construction
- Certificate II in Electrotechnology
- Certificate II in Workplace Skills
- Certificate II in Community Services
- Certificate II in Applied Digital Technology
- Certificate II in Dual Cookery & Hospitality
These courses will provide our students with valuable qualifications and skills during their secondary school journey, preparing them for life beyond the classroom. Students enrolled in VET programs will receive more information in the near future.
As we continue our Semester 2 Sprints, we are finishing Sprint 4– Punctuality Matters
Being on time sets the tone for learning, and consistent routines around punctuality support a focused, respectful learning environment for everyone.
🕒 What We’re Observing:
- ✅ Was the teacher on time and ready to begin the lesson?
- 🚪 Did any students arrive late to class?
📋 Was lateness addressed using a clear protocol (e.g. students asked to wait at the door or remain behind briefly after class)?
- 📝 Was the late arrival recorded on Compass, including the arrival time?
This sprint helps reinforce the importance of time management and accountability — for both students and staff — and ensures that learning starts smoothly, every time.
Thank you for your continued support as we maintain our focus on consistent, evidence-based practices. We'll keep sharing our progress and celebrating the impact these sprints are having across our school.
Wishing all our students a restful and rejuvenating holiday period. I am aware that some of our Year 12 students will be dedicating time to their studies throughout this break, and I extend my best wishes to you. Please ensure you manage your time effectively and take moments to appreciate the fresh air and renewal of spring. With only a few school days remaining, the end of the term is approaching swiftly.
