Principal's Report

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Learning Focus

Years 7–10 students have launched into their second semester subjects, engaging in a wide range of new electives. Year 12 students, aware this is their final full term of secondary education, are showing commendable focus and drive. Our Careers Team is supporting them through individual pathway interviews, while Years 8–11 students have completed subject selections for 2026 and are exploring career and study options. These selections will guide which subjects are offered next year.

As our Year 12 students prepare to sit their upcoming Unit 3/4 exams, we wish them every success. Their hard work, resilience, and dedication throughout the year has been commendable, and we are confident they will approach these assessments with focus and determination. We also encourage students to make the most of the upcoming school holidays by attending practice exams and seeking feedback from their teachers. These opportunities are invaluable for strengthening understanding and building confidence ahead of the final assessments.

Our staff remain equally energised, delivering differentiated lessons tailored to the diverse needs of learners. This commitment extends to our professional development, where collaboration and skill-building in differentiation remain top priorities.

NAPLAN

Individual NAPLAN reports have now been distributed to students and families. The College has also received summary data, enabling us to analyse trends at both class and individual levels.

I am proud to report that Lyndale Secondary College has again outperformed similar and network schools on key measures. These results reflect the dedication of our staff, who continuously strive for excellence in teaching and are deeply committed to student success.

State School Spectacular

Congratulations to our talented students who performed in the mass dance category at last weekend’s State School Spectacular—a first for Lyndale Secondary College! The energy and enthusiasm displayed ensure it won’t be our last.

A special mention to Hamsini Karthik (7C), who shone as one of the principal dancers—an outstanding achievement.

We also thank staff members Joshua Weaver and Priyanka Suja Rani for their unwavering support and guidance throughout rehearsals and the Show Days. We are very proud of our students’ passion, hard work, and commitment.

Workforce Planning and Subject Selection

Planning for the 2026 school year is well underway. Students’ subject selections are informing decisions about which subjects will be offered, ensuring opportunities align with student interests and future pathways.

College Values:  Respect Resilience and Responsibility

As we move through the school year, I want to remind everyone of the importance of our core values: Respect, Resilience, and Responsibility. These values underpin a positive and orderly learning environment.

Of particular importance at this time of year is Resilience. Resilience means adapting and bouncing back from setbacks. At times, things don’t go as planned. By taking a positive perspective, viewing challenges as opportunities, and focusing on what we can control, we strengthen our ability to succeed.

Attendance

Missing just one day every two weeks adds up to a full month of lost learning each year. Regular attendance is one of the most important responsibilities for young people, supporting both learning and the development of essential life skills such as teamwork, time management, and problem-solving.

Research shows students who attend school more consistently are more likely to achieve strong academic results, secure better jobs, enjoy good health, and avoid substance misuse later in life.

If you need support with your child’s attendance, please contact us on 9795 2366 and follow the prompts for your child’s Subschool.

Parent, Caregiver and Guardian Survey

The 2025 Parent, Caregiver and Guardian Opinion Survey closed on Friday 19 September 2025. This Department of Education survey seeks feedback on school climate, community engagement, teaching practices, and attitudes towards school attendance.

We thank all families who took the time to complete the survey. Your feedback is important and will guide our improvement priorities, professional development, and future planning.

Thank you for your ongoing support throughout Term 3. Have a safe and relaxing break, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back for a positive and successful Term 4.

Kind regards

Pam Robinson, Principal
