Dear Families,
We are busily preparing for our end of term mass, we hope to see you join us on the 17th of September at 9.30am. We also had St. Johns Ambulance come in for an incursion around basic first aid and calling emergency services.
Don't forget the children are invited to wear their favourite sports team or clothing to school on our last day for Term 3 - Friday 19th September.
Literacy-During whole class Reading, we read the book 'Dear you love from your brain' a wonderful book with child friendly illustrations about our brain.
Literacy-During Phonics, we looked at the i_e as in 'five' and 'i' as in 'find'. So far we have learnt 5 different ways of spelling the 'i_e' sound (i, i_e, igh, _y, ie).
Mathematics: This week for Mathematics, we learnt about measuring objects using informal units. An activity you can do at home is as follows.
Integrated: This week we learnt about how our brains react to unsafe situations and how we can call for help if a family member is in danger. We also learnt about the importance of knowing our parents' phone numbers and address. Please show your children how to access 000 from your home or mobile phones, even though they may be locked for security.
Religious Education: During Religion we practised for mass and celebrated Mary's birthday on the 8th of September.
SEL: This week we learned about how we can say 'yes' or 'no' politely when others ask to join in our games.
Literacy-Reading - Over next week we will continue to read 'Dear you, Love from your brain'.
Literacy-Phonics - We will learn about the e_e as in 'delete' and 'e' as in 'me'.
Mathematics - We will continue to learn about measurement.
Integrated - We will complete the 'My Healthy self" booklet.
Religious Education - We will participate in our community mass.
SEL - We will complete our end of term assessment.
AUSLAN - We will revise and complete the end of cycle assessment for this term.
Read or watch the weekly book with your child at home (there is often a read aloud on you tube). Talk about what the book's most important ideas are.
Ask your child to retell the story using their own words.
Talk about who the characters are, where the story is happening.
Use the spelling words provided to make up sentences at home or simply a 5 word mini dictation.
Take the idea around Mathematics and ask students to repeat an activity they did at school, with you.
Important Dates
Did you know we have an onsite before and after school program? They also offer school holiday programs for working families. Find out more here.
