Child Safe & Wellbeing
Safety, Respect and Learning
Over this week and next, students who helped adapt the Child Safe and Wellbeing Policy into a student-friendly version will be sharing it with their peers. Their work has made the policy more accessible, ensuring every student can clearly understand their rights and responsibilities in keeping our school safe and supportive.
As part of this focus, students have been learning about the importance of speaking with a trusted adult whenever they feel unsafe or uncertain. We’ve also taken time to review our child safe practices, reinforcing awareness of the steps that protect everyone in our community. These conversations are vital in helping students build confidence, recognise their rights, and know where to turn for support.
At the same time, staff have revisited the Codes of Conduct for Staff, Students, and Parents. These will be shared with families so that everyone understands their role in creating a culture of respect, safety, and wellbeing.
This week, students took part in lessons focused on R U OK? Day, exploring the
importance of checking in with others and knowing how to start supportive conversations. Each class had the opportunity to contribute to a whole-school poster capturing different ways we can ask someone “R U OK?”, a creative reminder of the power of simple, caring questions.
Staff also came together to mark the day with a wellbeing breakfast hosted by our Wellbeing Team. It was a chance to pause, connect, and share the things that bring us comfort and joy. Unsurprisingly, many of the images shared featured family, the natural environment, from beaches to the countryside, and, of course, plenty of pets (cats and dogs!).
The day was a timely reminder that looking out for one another matters, not just on R U OK? Day, but every day.
