Spotlight on Learning
Bethany Community
Dear Bethany Families,
It is hard to believe we are already approaching the end of Term 3. This week is National Child Protection Week, and students have been learning about the importance of safety and trust in our community.
We also recognised R U OK? Day. During our morning prayer time, we reflected on the importance of caring for one another, showing kindness, and checking in with those around us.
Don't forget the children are invited to wear their favourite sports team or clothing to school on our last day for Term 3 - Friday 19th September.
Thank you for your continued support as we finish the term strongly.
Next Week we are learning about...
Religious Education Focus:
Next week, students will be reflecting on how prayer, the Bible, the Holy Spirit, saints, and sacred symbols act as the fuel for our faith journey. They will explore how these guide and strengthen us, especially when facing challenges along the way.
English Focus:
Next week in English, students will be finishing their class novel Tom Appleby, Convict Boy. They will also be learning how to use the structure and features of information reports. Students will practise taking notes from a given article and then plan and create two body paragraphs and a concluding paragraph on the topic of Australian agriculture.
Mathematics Focus:
Next week, students will be learning how to construct a grid coordinate system that uses coordinates to locate positions within a space. They will be using coordinates and directional language to describe position and movement.
Integrated Studies Focus:
In our Health unit, we will continue exploring puberty and learning that puberty is a time of change for all people and that different cultures, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, have unique and respectful ways of recognising these changes.
SEL Focus:
In Week 9, students will begin with a pre-assessment on positive gender relations to reflect on their current understanding. They will then explore how patterns of gender-based violence in society can affect children and young people, developing awareness of the impacts and the importance of fostering respect, equality, and safety in relationships.
Auslan Learning Focus:
Next week we will learn the signs from Unit 8A. Students are learning that constructed action involves enacting the thoughts and actions of people and animals. In this unit we retrieve and build on our skills in accurately moving like a person, animal or object. To develop students’ understanding of constructed action we learn and use zoo animal signs.
Please view and respond to the Camp Consent form, Activities Permission and Dietary Requirements forms that we have sent through. These documents are essential for your child’s participation in camp.
As students bodies are developing, we ask families to ensure students have enough nutritious food packed in their lunchboxes to sustain their energy levels and attention throughout the day.
Reminder for students to bring in forks or spoons with their lunch.
