Oliver! Production

Lucy Filor - Production Director

No more for Oliver!

All of us involved in the 2025 musical production of Oliver! are immensely proud of all we achieved: instrumental and vocal excellence, beautiful mise en scene, extraordinary costuming, top-shelf performances, luminous lighting, and snappy scene changes!

The cast of Oliver! was our biggest to date, and we are so excited to work on future shows with many of the young stars who joined us for the first time this year!

Like all good musicals, there are many happy endings and sad goodbyes for the cast and crew of Oliver!

We welcomed a few students to the show for the first – and last – time this year: Josh, Asha and Parvana joined the cast, Phoebe played the challenging Reed 1 part in the orchestra pit, and Tori and Spencer kept our backstage cogs turning smoothly. Their contribution was full of generosity and joy, and the experience has deepened their connection to the Norwood College community.

After a short pursuit down C corridor, Judah agreed to audition for the 2024 production of Urinetown, in which he scored the charismatic role of the revolutionary Bobby Strong. This year, his unique approach brought a perplexing likeability to the often detestable role of Mr Bumble.

Taylor joined the chorus of Anastasia in 2023 and went on to be the soupiest of Soupy-Sues in Urinetown. Her kindness and warmth were on full display in her role as the delightful Mrs Bedwin in Oliver! this year.

Bee jumped aboard for Shrek in 2022, participating in the intensely complex management of the backstage crew. They took on a number of on-stage roles in Anastasia, and then took the limelight as the sycophantic McQueen in Urinetown and the acerbic Mrs Bumble in Oliver!

Caleb’s list is long! He first trod the boards of Karralyka Theatre with us when he held a sword aloft as one of Lord Farquaad’s guards in Shrek. In the past two years, Caleb showed us that he is all class, playing both Count Ipolitov and Tsar Alexander II in Anastasia, and the thoroughly decent and kind Mr Brownlow in this year’s production.

Em and Alex have been integral to all our Productions since they joined the (misnamed!) Riverside Quartet in The Wind in the Willows in 2021. Em’s stand-out roles include Young Anastasia in Anastasia (2023), and she took the title role in Oliver! this year, in which she regularly brought us to tears with her ‘Where Is Love?’ lament. Alex has been a powerhouse of BIG singing! They knocked the socks off audiences as Lily in Anastasia, brought the house down with ‘Privilege to Pee’ as Pennywise in Urinetown, and moved us to elation and despair as Nancy in Oliver!

Norwood Secondary College wishes you all the very best for your future pursuits and hope you will always consider yourselves part of the Norwood Production community!
