Writer's Corner

Ryan: The rusty wheels were turning with the powerful machines that were roaring. The threatened birds were fleeing as the dry grass was suffering. The nasty smoker was going as high as the rock mountains that were towering over the machines.

Electra: As the monstrous machines roar, the smoke spreads, polluting the once lush fields. The industrial material devours the land, leaving only depressing spots of dry dirt and empty homes. Life was drained. Mother nature is suffering , and it all starts from one species.

Sam N: It's really hot and the sun's out shining. I'm really thirsty but I'm going to have to wait another six hours before I arrive at the river. But I have been doing this for years ever since dad died. I'm used to it now. I can wait, but in the distance at the corner of my eye I see a little dirty river. The decision hits me, do I go drink now in a river I've never seen before to fix my dehydration, or do I go another 4-6 hours to drink out of a river I know is safe. I decided to play it safe. I have been walking for an hour straight since I spotted the little river. Maybe I'm getting closer, but then a horrible smell hits the air around me. I know that smell is  from the city so I know I'm getting close. I finally arrived. I drink up all the water I can.

I store some water in a container so my family can have water for later. Now I have to walk to the dump site to find our first bit of food of the week. There is such a bad smell in the air it makes me want to back out and go home. But my whole family is relying on me to find food or we will starve for longer than we already have, so I push through. After a while of looking I found a bag with moldy bread inside, but I don't want to eat it. Well  probably the only food we will have in weeks so I just have to eat a piece.

After a long big day of walking and work, I finally returned home. It's really late and it's time for bed and I look up at the stars and I slowly close my eyes and hope that this situation my family's in will finally come to an end.
