Thank you to families for your donations to Bahay Tuluyan Philippines Australia the students raised $227.60 to support students education in this Philippines school.

Building Fairness and Understanding

In Foundation to Grade 2, students enjoyed reading the book Enemy Pie. They then created a list of ways to build fairness in their classrooms. Some of their thoughtful ideas included:

  • Treat people the way you want to be treated
  • Take turns
  • Tell the truth
  • Play by the rules
  • Think about how your actions affect others
  • Listen with an open mind
  • Don’t blame others for your mistakes
  • Don’t take advantage of others
  • Don’t play favourites

Students also made their own Friendship Word Webs, showing the many ways they can be kind and supportive to one another.

In Grades 3–6, students discussed children’s rights and took part in activities to explore the effects of racism and disability. They learnt about the adjustments we can make to support people with disabilities, and that not all disabilities can be seen.

Our Mini Vinnies group shared information with each level about Bahay Tuluyan Philippines Australia (BTPA). This organisation works to build a compassionate global community where every child’s rights are respected, protected, and fulfilled. Money raised will go towards keeping children safe in accommodation, providing them with food, and giving them the chance to receive an education.

To finish the week, every student created a Sockball from recycled materials. This activity symbolised how many children around the world do not have proper sporting equipment and instead make their own from rubbish. It reminded us to be grateful for the opportunities we have and to think about children who may not be as fortunate.
