Father's Day

Inspiring Visit from Michael Matricciani – Melbourne City A-League Women’s Head Coach
Last night, our Dads, Fathers, Grandfathers and children had the privilege of welcoming Michael Matricciani, Head Coach of Melbourne City’s A-League Women’s team. Michael was introduced by Jamal Elsheikh from OneLove Australia, who has worked with our students and staff throughout this year. Michael shared his incredible journey in professional football and the lessons he has learned along the way.
In his very first season with Melbourne City, Michael guided his team through an undefeated A-League season, securing the Premiers Plate and earning a place in the Asian Champions League Final — a remarkable achievement and a milestone for Australian women’s football.
Michael also spoke directly to the dads in our community, encouraging them to recognise the powerful role they play in their children’s lives. He reminded us that being a father is about more than providing — it’s about being present, supportive, and modelling the values we want our children to grow up with.
His message went beyond the excitement of trophies and titles. Michael emphasised that great coaching — and great parenting — isn’t just about striving for success, but about creating a positive culture, building confidence, and helping young people grow on and off the field.
We thank Michael for his time, his wisdom, and his encouragement for both students and parents to strive for their best in all areas of life.
Coincidentally, we also welcomed Shelby McMahon, a player for the Melbourne City FC Women's team and Junior Matilda star, daughter of our new Grade 5/6 teacher, Amy McMahon. Shelby assisted on the soccer field, where the dads enjoyed a kickabout with their children before gathering to enjoy sausages.
Once again, this type of event would not be possible without the assistance of our staff and families. A special thank you to Marisa Patton for organising the evening, the staff who assisted with cooking and serving sausages and some of our mums who also helped with organisation and service.
