In our classrooms…
On Literacy Open morning I found myself being a ‘real’ teacher as the students say, in a prep classroom. Whilst I was being challenged in quickly familiarising myself with the lesson plan for the morning, the students held me accountable to the routines of the morning session. I was impressed by their ability to enter the space calmly, set up their learning space and were ready to begin instruction by 9am. As these routines are a strong part of the culture at TPS, students were able to continue their learning and could even answer my questions about their class routines about Daily Reviews and Paired Fluency. During this session the students were engaged and supported by parents who attended the open morning. There were many proud smiles from the students showing their reading skills with their parents.
