Exploring Chance
Over the past two weeks, students in B4 have been exploring chance. We have discussed the language of chance, using words and phrases such as 'impossible, unlikely, even chance, likely and certain'.
We have also been conducting chance experiments and thinking about the odds of rolling dice, flipping coins and pulling counters from a hat. Students have been playing chance games and have even considered the most common numbers to be rolled with two dice. As a class, we found that 6, 7 and 8 were the most common, appearing in three different dice combinations.
If you're playing chance games at home, have a discussion about the chance or likelihood of rolling a certain number or pulling a certain card from the deck.
