SUSTAINABILITY NEWS

The Gardening Club and Yr 3/4SK students were very busy in our gardens today! Gardening Club dug out the beautiful, rich soil our worms have made for us, and topped up our garden beds with it, plus some new potting mix. We then created what will become beautiful flower gardens, using lavender and paper daisies, plus a herb garden, with perennial basil, and marjoram amongst our strawberry plants.

Year 3/4s talked about small things we can each do to help reduce climate change. We learned that when we put food scraps into landfill, it creates “methane” - one of the gasses that cause global warming. So this is why we want to compost our food waste at Trinity. We learned about our worms in our worm farms, and planted silverbeet and radishes. We also used our Maths skills to measure the depth of the seeds and how far apart the rows should be.

SUPER 20% DISCOUNTS - ORDER YOUR FRUIT AND VEGETABLE BOXES

Farmers’ Pick have offered us a huge 20% off for all new orders! Trinity is participating in the ‘Feed Our School’ fundraising initiative by Farmers Pick, an organisation that prevents ‘perfectly imperfect’ fruit and veg from ending up in landfill by selling boxes of this produce that supermarkets can't. Families can order fruit and veg boxes online, and have it conveniently delivered to Trinity every Tuesday.  Better yet, their produce is priced up to 30% less than at the supermarket, and Trinity receives $5 for every box ordered! See flyers attached for more information.

NUDE FOOD DAY - NEW DAY - THURSDAYS

Congratulations to 5/6FA again for this week! Who will try to beat them, for next week?

We ask students to choose foods which create no rubbish to bring for lunch on this day. Some great ideas can be found at https://www.nudefoodday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/HOW-TO-PACK-A-NUDE-FOOD-LUNCH.pdf

Have a great week everyone! Thanks for your great efforts in helping us live in a way that is kinder to our environment!
