Last week, our school was invited to take part in a Climate Change Education Forum at Earth Ed in Ballarat. Eight students enjoyed two days of learning, sharing and discussing climate problems and future solutions with students from twelve other Victorian primary and secondary schools, university researchers, environmental entrepreneurs and City of Ballarat Representatives and Councillors.

Thank you to Mrs Stabbins who very kindly took time out of her days to transport students to our Earth Ed excursion.

On Day One, the day started with Kobe and Tom from Junkyard Beats engaging everyone in a musical workshop using found and discarded objects as instruments. Some examples included; carboard boxes, pot pots and pans, water barrels, plastic bags, plastic bottles, buckets and lids. Everyone agreed - It was FUN!

To help everyone focus on climate problems impacting the world around us and to help generate ideas for possible solutions we created a time machine to travel back in time and into the future.  We met Alex who recycles milk lids to create keyrings, jewellery and other plastic products.

Students worked together to plan, design and create artefacts for a future museum. The ideas were wide-ranging and all very inventive. Groups and individuals presented final pieces to students, adults, and important visitors.
