Grade 3/4 News

Loving learning every day with Mrs Jacobs and Miss Mawby!

Literacy

We have been having lots of fun in literacy, designing useless products, inspired by our mentor text The All New Must Have Orange 430. There are pens without ink, pre-shattered windows, bouncy balls that don't bounce, and a teddy bear that you can't cuddle to name a few. We have been writing advertisements to sell our products, so we have been thinking a lot about who we are writing for and why.

Here are some drafts of our advertisements:

Elsie: a teddy Bear that you can't hug
Ruby P: a bouncy ball that doesn't bounce
Connor: a drink bottle that is see through
Camille: an invisible bed
Ava: diet water

Numeracy

We have continued our focus on multiplicative thinking, looking at multiplication strategies, such as the double-double strategy (4 times tables) and the double-double-double strategy (8 times tables), and practising our skip counting, even going up to the 9 times tables. We have been using arrays to solve multiplication and divisions problems.

Integrated Studies

We had our excursion to the Art Gallery of Ballarat, where we learnt about the importance of the Bogong Moth, learnt about the Bunjil creation story, and did our own artwork using ochre.

RIKER: Showing our School Values

The 3/4 classes have been working hard on demonstrating our school values. Mrs Jacobs and Miss Mawby have been giving out raffle tickets to students who are trying their best to show our school values, and at the end of the week, everyone who gets a raffle ticket goes into the draw to pick from the prize box. We are so proud of how hard everyone is working, and it is wonderful to see everyone being so happy for their friends who receive a raffle ticket.
